Sugar mill Starts payments to growers

NAWABSHAH, Dec 30: The Habib Sugar Mills management said on Monday that they were purchasing sugarcane directly from the growers and releasing their payments at the rate of Rs41 per 40kg as fixed by the Sindh government.

Talking to this correspondent, the mill resident director, Mohammad Yousuf, said they were crushing an average of 200,000 maunds of sugarcane daily and the season would continue upto first week of April.

When contacted, Sindh Abadgar Welfare Association chairman Syed Abdullah Shah acknowledged that the mill had released payment at the rate of Rs41 per 40kg.
