Ahmad hospitalized

KARACHI, Dec 29; Former Pakistan hockey captain and veteran goalkeeper Ahmad Alam on Monday was taken to local hospital for treatment after he had a bout of temperature and stomach disorder.

Ahmad was administered a drip in the hospital and returned back to hotel, team doctor Col. Dr Yousuf Baig said.

He said that the Olympian was given complete rest till Tuesday morning and may resume training session in the afternoon.

In the meantime, assistant coach Olympian Tahir Zaman is supervising Pakistan team’s training camp preparing for the Azlan Shah Cup to be played in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from Jan 7.

Pakistan’s all foreign-hired officials including Dutch chief coach Roelant Oltmans, goal-keeping coach Ronald Jansen, physiotherapist and video analyst had gone to their respective countries to celebrate Christmas and New Year.

They will be returning to Pakistan on Jan 2 to re-start training of the team.—APP
