ISLAMABAD, Dec 29: The Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) on Monday dispatched Rs1 million relief goods to the Iranian earthquake victims.
An official statement said the PRCS had dispatched 100 tents, 1,000 blankets, 500 stoves and 500 kitchen sets to the affected people.
The relief consignment will be sent to Tehran through the cabinet division. Lt-Gen Jahan Dad Khan (retired), Chairman of the PRCS, presented the relief goods to H. Taharani, consular Iranian embassy in Islamabad.
Gen Khan said Iranian Red Crescent Society had always extended support to Pakistan in the wake of disaster. “We at this time extend our deep sympathies to the victims of earthquake in Bam,” he added.
Meanwhile, a meeting of the Pakistan-Iran Cultural Association and the ECO Cultural Association with Dr Ghazanfar Mehdi in the chair here on Monday was informed that Rs10 million relief goods had been collected in Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, Multan, Quetta and Peshawar and dispatched to Iran through Abdul Sattar Edhi Foundation, provincial governments and the cabinet division.
