Facility for Samjhota travellers

Published December 30, 2003

LAHORE, Dec 29: Passengers wishing to travel to India by Samjhota Express may purchase tickets 48 hours before departure, say railway officials.

The decision has been taken to facilitate the passengers who could earlier purchase the tickets only 24 hours before the departure of the train from the Lahore railway station, they say.

Train operation between the two neighbouring countries was suspended since Jan 1, 2002, and will resume on Jan 15, 2004, after the railway authorities of both the countries held successful talks in Delhi on Dec 18-19 on the issue.

The officials denied press reports that any booking for the train had been opened.
