Wapda end drought with easy victory

KARACHI, Dec 28: Wapda ended their winless streak in the Patron’s Cup when they overwhelmed Bangladesh ‘A’ by a comfortable margin of seven wickets at UBL Sports Complex on Sunday.

Wapda’s first one-day win in Pool ‘A’ was engineered by Adil Nisar, who made a welcome return to form by scoring 94 off 112 deliveries. He could easily had a century against his name, but a rush of blood saw him charged at leg-spinner Mosaddek Hossain and only to be bowled through the gate.

The left-hander stroked 12 boundaries while sharing a third-wicket stand of 129 with Mohammad Zaman (63 not out off 88 balls).

Earlier, Bangladesh were restricted to 221 for nine in their 50 overs. Rajin Saleh top-scored for the visitors with 61 off 93 balls, hitting only two fours. Shahriar Hossain was more flamboyant as he struck six fours in making a 79-ball 55.
