Dealers create LPG shortage

Published December 29, 2003

NAROWAL, Dec 28: With no Sui gas facility is available to Narowal citizens, the shortage of Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinders in this extreme weather has added to their difficulties.

The regular supply of LPG cylinders is imperative to meet the daily requirements of the people. But the LPG dealers exploit the situation by creating artificial shortage in their lust to earn more money.

The cylinders are only available in the black market at rates much higher than its actual price. Dealers have dozens of their sub-agents in streets and mohallahs throughout the town who are selling the cylinders at their own prices.

These sub-agents sell fuel gas by filling it into small cylinders in an unsafe manner which may cause a serious accident.

Citizens have time and again complained to the authorities concerned to take stock of the situation, but to no avail.
