KHAIRPUR: Plea to reopen school

KHAIRPUR, Dec 28: Residents of Rafiq Ahmad Jamali village held a protest demonstration near Kot Mir Mohammad, Kingri taluka, for the second consecutive day on Sunday against the closure of a village school.

Talking to journalists, representatives of the protesters said the primary school had remained closed for the last one year due to which children of the village were unable to get education.

The villagers demanded the education authorities should take action against ghost teachers and immediately reopen the school.

CONDEMNED: A joint meeting of the Sindh Professor and Lectures Association, held here on Sunday, condemned an attack on a senior professor of the Superior Science College, Khairpur, Ghulam Rasool Gopang.

The SPLA warned that it would launch a protest campaign if the persons involved in the attack were not arrested.

Meanwhile, the injured professor was shifted to Larkana in a critical condition.

WIRE STOLEN: Wire of 11,000kv of 10 electricity poles was stolen from Pir Hothi Nothi village to Manghanwari village near Ahmadpur on Saturday.

As a result power supply to 10 villages, including Pir Hothi Nothi, Chhatan Shah, Khan Mohammad Shahani and Loda, was suspended.

PROTEST: Scores of residents of three villages of Dipwaro taluka in Kot Diji staged a demonstration her the other day against Hesco officials for disconnecting power supply to their villages.

The power supply to Abdul Qadir Lashari, Muhammad Mithal and Muhammad Hassan villages had been disconnected for the last two days.
