Pakistanis visit orphanage

KOLKATA, Dec 27: Taking time off busy schedule, members of touring Pakistan ‘A’ cricket team spent sometime with children at a city orphanage ‘The Refuge’.

Pakistani cricketers went to central Kolkata home in morning and mingled freely with children, who seemed overwhelmed at sight of “heroes” like Shahid Afridi.

“I wasn’t sure whether it was real or I was dreaming,” said 12-year-old Panchu.

The cricketers played with kids, and presented them mementoes like their jerseys and caps, as also sweets and fruits.

On arrival, the players were given warm welcome by around 300 tiny inmates of the home, who handed them Indian tri-colour and flowers.

“It’s a proud moment for the orphanage. The moments spent with Pakistan cricketers will remain ever fresh in minds of these children,” said coordinator of the home.—PPI
