Woman, son killed in aerial firing

SAHIWAL, Dec 26: A woman and her seven-year-old son lost their lives and another girl sustained serious injuries on Thursday in a firing by some participants of a marriage party at Chak 63/5-L.

The marriage convoy was returning to the village when friends of bridegroom — Tariq, Khaliq, Maqbool and Javed resorted to aerial firing. As a result, some stray bullets hit Aisha and her son Bilal and another girl Shahnaz, killing woman and her son instantly and injuring the girl seriously.

Yusafwala police have registered a case with no arrest.

MAN, SON KILLED: Four bandits on Thursday night shot dead a man and his son and injured another on resistance during a dacoity at Chak 2/14-L.

Armed bandits barged into the house of Bashir Ahmed, held the inmates hostage and started collecting cash and valuables. For offering resistance, the intruders shot dead Bashir and his son Mahboob and injured Shifaat seriously.

Kassowal police have instituted a case against the outlaws.

Meanwhile, robbers snatched a pick-up and three motorcycles and cash in different parts of the district during the last 24 hours.

On Noorshah-Faisalabad Road near Chak 53/GD, a pick-up (MNA-3891) was stopped by four robbers at pistol point. They snatched Rs55,000 from Noor Ahmed and his two colleagues and escaped from the scene.

Riaz Ahmed was deprived of his motorcycle (SGF-3266) and Rs11,000 in cash by armed robbers near Chak 112/12-L.

Armed robbers relieved Nasir Ahmed of his motorcycle (SLJ-6764) and Rs60,000 in cash near Chak 117/12-L.

Unidentified robbers shot at and injured two brothers Rafiq and Nazir and snatched from them their motorcycle (SLH-2559) and Rs50,000 in cash near Chak 98/6-R.

Police have registered separate cases.
