MPs filing incomplete information to get notices

ISLAMABAD, Dec 24: The Election Commission on Wednesday decided to issue notices to the parliamentarians who have not provided complete information regarding their assets and liabilities.

The commission resolved in a meeting presided over by Chief Election Commissioner Irshad Hassan Khan that notices be issued to the members of parliament and provincial assemblies requesting them to supply the information missing in their statements of assets and liabilities within 15 days.

The commission in its two-day meeting reviewed all the statements of assets and liabilities filed by the members of parliament and provincial assemblies under Section 42A of the Representation of the People Act, 1976, and Section 25 of the Senate (Elections) Act, 1975.

The Election Commission found that some statements were lacking in particulars of plots, houses or agricultural property and their value, cost of cars, jewellry and furniture and other information.—APP
