UNITED NATIONS, Dec 24: The UN Security Council on Tuesday hailed Libya’s renunciation of weapons of mass destruction, and also urged Tripoli to cooperate with the UN in verifying that the decision was carried out.

However, at Pakistan’s insistence, the Council refrained from praising Libya’s decision to stop developing weapons of mass destruction as a model for others.
