DADU, Dec 23: Protest against non-payment of salaries to the municipal sanitary staff has led to suspension of a labour leader.

The employees of tax, engineering and accounts branches of the Dadu Taluka Municipal Administration boycotted office work here on Tuesday to protest against non-payment of salaries to 350 sanitary staff of the TMA.

Later, the employees and the sanitary staff, held a demonstration outside the TMA office.

Speaking to the demonstrators, TMA Employees Union chief Basheer Ahmed said Rs1,800,000 were lying in the TMA account but the administration was not paying salaries to sanitation staff for the last

two months.

Meanwhile, the Dadu taluka Nazim suspended 20 TMA employees including Mr Solangi.

DEMO: The councillor and residents held a demonstration outside the press club here on Tuesday to protest against the use of substandard material in development schemes of the city.

Speaking to the demonstrators, councillor Basheer Khan Bhatti said DCO Aijaz Ahmed Mangi had executed some development schemes, including those of drainage, water supply and sanitation, through the public health engineering department though the works should have been undertaken by taluka municipal administration.
