Two killed in separate incidents

RAWALPINDI, Dec 21: Two persons were killed and another was injured in separate incidents on Sunday, hospital authorities and police said.

In the first incident, a mason was electrocuted, while a labourer sustained injuries due to electric shock while working on an under-construction house in Waris Khan police area.

Kaloo Khan and Manzoor suffered electric shock from high tension wires passing close to the house. As a result, the two men fell on the road. Kaloo Khan died on the spot, while his fellow labourer was shifted to the Rawalpindi General Hospital in critical condition.

In the second incident, A 60-year-old woman, who had come to see her relatives off at the railway station, died after falling on the track, police said.

Kasur Saleem was getting off a train compartment when she slipped and fell on the track, and received critical head injuries. She was shifted to DHQ hospital where she died.

Meanwhile, a newly-married woman was burnt critically in her husband’s house at Tehmasipabad, in the jurisdiction of Waris Khan police, on Sunday, the police said.

Vina, wife of Asad Ali, was brought to the Rawalpindi General Hospital with 90 per cent burns. She told the hospital staff that she had set herself on fire, however, she refused to record her statement with the police.

The victim’s in-laws claimed that she was cooking meal when her clothes caught fire.

A reporter from Islamabad adds: Two persons were injured in different incidents here, police said on Saturday.

Zaheer was shot and injured by three person at Alipur, Barakahu, police said.

The injured was taken to the Polyclinic Hospital. The doctors said his condition in critical.

The motive behind the incident is old enmity, police said.

Tariq Mehmood, brother of Zaheer, lodged an FIR with Barakahu police that Mehrban, Zubair and Zahid attacked his brother and injured him, the police said.

In another incident, a police constable, who was on duty at a checkpost in Barakahu, was injured when a speeding Suzuki pick- up hit him when he signalled the pick-up to stop.

The injured constable, Tariq Mehmood, 32, was taken to the Police Clinic where he is said to be in critical condition.
