Aqeel annexes double crown

By Our Sports Reporter

KARACHI, Dec 18: Pakistan’s top-ranked player Aqeel Khan captured National Hard Court tennis crown for the fourth consecutive time overcoming Nomi Qamar 2-6, 6-0, 6-3 in the final played on Thursday at Karachi Gymkhana.

Aqeel lost the first set but roared back to win the next two and the title as Nomi wilted under pressure.

Wasim Cheema justified his rankings when he lifted the juniors Under-18 trophy beating Adnan Khan in straight sets 6-1, 6-1.

Top seed Marium Rahim had no trouble as she whitewashed Aamena Hamid 6-0, 6-0 in a one-sided affair that lasted just 45 minutes.
