KARACHI: Fire destroys 50 huts in Gulshan

KARACHI, Dec 18: As many as 50 huts gutted when fire broke out in a locality near an amusement park in Gulshan-i-Iqbal on Thursday. No one, however, was injured in the incident. According to Edhi sources, a group of people had lit up a small fire for heating purpose but it spread all around accidentally. By the time firefighters could extinguish the fire, it had already gutted at least 50 huts nearby. Extent of damage caused by the blaze could not be ascertained immediately.

A spokesman for the fire department said that fire-tenders from Gulistan-i-Jauhar and Sohrab Goth stations took part in bringing the blaze under control.

SNATCHED: A car, belonging to a former ambassador, was snatched at gunpoint in KDA Scheme No.1 Thursday morning.

Bahadurabad police said that two outlaws forced driver of the car (ADH-960) out of the vehicle at gun point and took it away at about 10.30am. The driver, Mohammad Pervaiz, was employed by Dr Masooma Hasan.

Mohammad Pervaiz has lodged an FIR with the Bahadurabad police.
