KARACHI: Honours admission list released


KARACHI, Dec 18: The University of Karachi on Thursday released the provisional list of about 3,200 candidates for admissions to BA (Honours), BSc (Honours), BCom (Honours) and B Pharmacy classes for the academic session 2004.

A KU official said the provisional lists for admissions to bachelor programmes had been displayed at the notice board outside the campus at the Silver Jubilee gate. Of the 13,000 application forms sold, the university received 10,500 applications from the candidates aspiring for admission.

Candidates not satisfied with the provisional merit list can file a claim on the form available from the United Bank counter located at Silver Jubilee gate on payment of Rs200 from December 23 to December 26. The list of valid claims would be displayed on December 29.

Director of the KU admission committee, Dr Mudassir Uddin, said fees would be collected from candidates whose names were included in the provisional merit list from December 23 to December 28.

The University offers admissions on merit under three categories: category “K” has applicants who the pre-requisite examinations from educational institutions in Karachi; category “S” includes applicants who have passed the necessary examinations from institutions outside Karachi but in Sindh and category “P” consists of applicants who have passed the pre-requisite examinations from institutions outside the province.

The closing percentage for admissions to different departments in the category “K” are as follows:

BS-Agriculture: The University of Karachi also announced the list of candidates selected for admission to BS Agriculture programme. In all, 35 students have been enlisted. The list opens at 76.27 per cent of marks and closes at 61.18 per cent of marks.
