KARACHI, Dec 17: Advisor to Chief Minister Sindh for Information and Archives, Salahuddin Haider and Abbas Jaffery, MPA, forming a two-member team of MQM parliamentary party, have demanded scraping of draft constitution which out-going management of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had planned to introduce.
They made the demand after a presentation made to them by the officials of the Karachi Cricket Association (KCCA) on Tuesday.
Mr Haider urged newly inducted PCB chairman Mr Shaharyar M. Khan to clean PCB management of elements who have no other aim but to serve their own selfish motives. Karachi and Lahore, he said have been major nurseries of Pakistan cricket and deserve special status.
The PCB constitution gives Karachi and Lahore special status and the PCB management prior to Mr Khan had shown a clear bias towards the two cities, a situation totally unacceptable to their respective people.
Advisor and MPA complained that Karachi had been ignored deliberately and recalled that a city which produced world class cricketers like Hanif Mohammed, Mushatq, Zaheer and Miandad had been victimized on purpose.
They urged Mr Khan to take special measures to ensure that playgrounds in Karachi were upgraded and club cricket promoted.—PPI
