ISLAMABAD, Dec 17: Eighteen members of the Sindh Assembly, including three ministers, have submitted their resignations to PML-Q chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain on Wednesday to protest against the attitude of the Chief Minister Ali Mohammad Mahar.

They demanded that the party chief should immediately remove Mr Mahar and alleged that he was playing in the hands of the PPP and PML-N workers, whereas he had totally ignored his party activists.

Sources said the MPAs led Imtiaz Sheikh, who has recently joined the PML-Q after disbanding his faction of Sindh Democratic Alliance, apprised the party president of their grievances against the provincial chief minister.

Mr Hussain, who was accompanied by PML-Q Vice-President Lt- Gen Majeed Malik (retired) and Secretary-General Salim Saifullah Khan, refused to accept the resignations and assured them that he would discuss the matter with Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali to find out a viable solution.

He promised them that their meeting with Mr Jamali would be arranged.

The 18-member delegation included Imtiaz Sheikh, Raheela Tiwana, Altaf Hussain Unnar and Ijaz Shah Shirazi.

Mr Hussain asked the aggrieved ministers to continue performing their duties till a decision was made.

Later, Mr Sheikh told reporters that he had informed the party chief about the incompetence and inconsistent attitude of the chief minister and demanded his immediate remov al.
