Flights to Quetta restored

By Our Staff Correspondent

QUETTA, Dec 16: The air link between Quetta and the rest of the country was restored on Tuesday afternoon after three days suspension of PIA operations.

The Quetta-bound flights coming from Karachi and Islamabad had landed at Quetta airport, PIA sources said. However, the flight coming from Karachi arrived at Quetta beyond its scheduled time as earlier PIA authorities in Karachi had informed the passengers that the flight was cancelled.

National newspapers could not reach Quetta from Karachi for the fourth consecutive day, on Tuesday, due to PIA’s announcement about the cancellation of the flight.

The cancellation of flights is attributed to poor visibility due to clouds of dust coming from Iran that enveloped the sky over Quetta and high mountains around the valley.

With the dust settling down slowly, chilly Siberian winds were blowing in the valley and other parts of northern and southern Balochistan.

Minimum temperature was recorded minus 10 in Celsius on Tuesday morning while maximum temperature was recorded nine in Celsius.

The water supply was also restored in the areas where water could not be supplied for the last three days.

The Met office forecast that the cold wave lashing Quetta and other parts of province would continue for next 48 hours.
