Balochistan forms finance body

QUETTA, Dec 16: The Balochistan government has constituted the Provincial Finance Commission (PFC) for distribution of resources among the local governments.

The commission has been set up under section 120-A of the Balochistan Local Government Ordinance, 2001, says a notification issued here on Monday.

Provincial Finance Minister Syed Ehsan Shah will be the chairman of the commission. The newly-constituted body would submit its recommendations for the distribution of funds among the district governments, tehsil, town, municipal and union administrations.

The commission would prepare its recommendations by taking into consideration financial requirements of local governments, capacity of these institutions and their performance with special reference to the financial issues.

Secretary of the Local Government Department, secretary of the Planning and Development Department, finance secretary, District Nazim of Lasbela Jam Mir Kamal, Nazim of Zarghoon Town Quetta Abdul Qahar Wadan, Nazim of UC Rohjan Jamali Mir Hafeez Khan Jamali, former minister for finance, planning and development Malik Mohammed Naeem, Vice-President of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry Sardar Mohammed Ali Jogezai, and a retired government officer Ghulam Mohammed Taj, will be the members of the Provincial Finance Commission.

OFFER: Balochistan Pakistan Muslim League (Zia group) president Mir Zarak Zehri has offered his land free of cost for establishing cantonments in Dalbandin area of Chaghai district.

Speaking at a press conference here on Saturday, he strongly criticized the leaders of nationalist parties who were opposed to the establishments of new cantonments in the province.

“I offer my personal and family land in Chaghai area for the purpose,” Zarak Zehri said.
