HYDERABAD: DPO, SHO reject harassment charge

By Our Correspondent

HYDERABAD, Dec 16: The DPO, investigation, and the SHO, Jhuddo police station, on Tuesday prayed the Sindh High Court, Hyderabad circuit, to dismiss a petition filed by a landlord against them.

The policemen in their separate comments denied the allegations levelled against them by landlord Abdul Rehman Marri in his constitutional petition.

The landlord had alleged in his petition that he was being threatened with implication in false cases by the respondents. He had filed the petition against the RPO, Hyderabad, DPO and the SHO.

He stated in the petition that a man, Mannu Bheel, was blackmailing him to extort money from him.

He said Bheel had filed a criminal miscellaneous application, claiming therein that the petitioner had kidnapped Kherro Bheel and seven others with the help of Mohammad Wariyal on May 4, 1998.

The petitioner said Bheel had prayed the court to order a raid at his residence to recover his eight family members.

He said two raids were conducted by the judicial magistrate and the first class magistrate but they fond no detainee at his house.

He said the raid commissioners submitted their reports at the SHC through the district and sessions judge of Sanghar after which Bheel withdrew his application.

The petitioner said later Shirimati Dharmi lodged a case under sections 365 and 34, PPC, against him which was also investigated and disposed of.

He said he filed a petition, seeking registration of a case against Shrimati Dharmi for lodging a false case against him.

He informed the court that to pressurize and blackmail him, Bheel observed a hunger strike outside the local press club.

The petitioner said on the Sindh governor’s directives, the RPO initiated an inquiry and called him at his office in presence of Bheel on Oct 14.

He alleged that the RPO insulted and humiliated him.

He prayed the court to direct the respondent police officers not to harass him and his peasants and declare the acts of the respondents illegal.

In his comments, DPO said he had not been entrusted with the inquiry and he had got nothing to do with the matter as it pertained to the Sanghar district.

The SHO said the petition was liable to be dismissed.
