KARACHI: Robber sentenced

KARACHI, Dec 16: The additional district and sessions judge, Central, Basheer Khoso, sentenced a robber to seven year rigorous imprisonment.

Accused Shahid Ali was found guilty of robbery in the house of complainant Mohammed Habib on June 26, 1998 in the limits of the Khawaja Ajmair Nagri police.

The judge also imposed a fine of Rs20,000 on the convict, who would have to undergo an additional six-month term in case of default on the payment.

ADJOURNMENT: An anti-terrorism court on Tuesday put off the hearing of a sectarian killing case registered against two workers of the banned Lashkar-i-Jhangvi after an eye-witness identified the two accused.

Judge Haq Nawaz Baloch of the ATC-5, who is conducting the trial inside the Juvenile Prison, fixed January 4, 2004 for the next hearing when the prosecution would examine further evidences in the case.

The LJ men, Mohammed Azam and Ataullah, have been charged with killing Muhammed Hamid Ali Rizvi on Sept 1, 2001 in the limits of the Clifton police.
