LAHORE, Dec 15: The Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (Tevta) is endeavouring to design and develop programmes to produce highly qualified professionals and ensure their placement in industrial, agriculture and service sectors.

This was stated by Tevta Board member Saeed Khan at the inaugural session of a two-week Institutional Management Training Programme organized by Tevta’s academic department at the Institute of Management and Technology on Monday. Twenty-five principals and vice-principals and senior staff of different Tevta institution are attending the course.

Mr Khan stressed that efficient institutional management was vital to achieve targets. He said the training programme had been developed to train master trainers, who would later impart training to the staff of other Tevta institutes.

He said the Tevta had trained more than 1,000 teachers this year in the field of pedagogy, skill upgradation and information technology. He called to re-engineer the traditional system of institutional management and ensure optimum utilization of resources and right use of information technology.

Earlier, Tevta academics general manager Engr Zahir J. Paracha told the participants that the training programme was meant to enable the staff to run the institutes in an efficient manner.

He said the programme would cover administrative, academic and financial management with special focus on paradigm shift for better functioning of institutes by the principal and senior management at respective institution’s level.

ILM rector Dr Hasan Sohaib Murad said Tevta had taken a great step to impart latest management ideas to its staff, which would change their behaviour, attitude besides uplifting the standard of their institutions.

Teachers Training manager Wajid Husain said the training programme would spread over 36 sessions and each session would be of around 12 hours duration.

Tevta board of management’s Lahore president Mohsin M. Syed, GM (operations) Engr Qamar Bashir, PVTC GM Sajid Nasir and other officials were also present on the occasion.
