Amit stuns Yousuf

KARACHI, Dec 14: Amit Parwani stunned Muhammad Yousuf 5-2 to storm into the semifinal of Karachi Club Open snooker championship on Sunday.

Amit started in a confident fashion grabbing the first three frames. Yousuf took the fourth and sixth frame but his young opponent wrapped up the match by taking the seventh frame after a close 60-57 contest.

Amit will face Khurram Agha in the semifinal on Monday who lost three frames against Shakeel Bhatti before securing a place in the last four.

Khurram was awarded the first frame after Shakeel reported late for his match. With score tied 3-all, Khurram cracked the breaks of 39 and 48 in the penultimate frames and settled the issue by winning the next to emerge winner.

The other semifinal will be between Saleh Muhammad and Naveen Perwani.

Top seed Saleh steamrolled Atiq Latif Bakhsh by handing out straight five-frame drubbings laced with break of 62 in the second and 66 and 40 in the fourth and 45 in the fifth.

Pakistan number three Naveen won the fourth frame before out- potting Vishan Gir 5-1 with a well-compiled break of 60 in the decider.
