LAHORE, Dec 14: The Civil Secretariat offices of the Punjab IGP and his team of senior officials are being vacated on the orders of the chief minister to accommodate new ministers.

The CPO (Central Police Office) has been functioning in the Civil Secretariat since the creation of Pakistan and is being shifted to a nearby building built for the purpose.

“The building was ordered to be built for housing the CPO many years ago and we are asked to shift there without a proper furnishing to vacate our offices in the Civil Secretariat for new ministers,” a police official said.

Sources said the provincial government had released Rs25 million for renovating the vacated rooms where 13 new ministers would be given offices.

Some ministers occupy offices in the Civil Secretariat’s ministers’ block while many others sit in the other government buildings elsewhere in Lahore.

Police officials said all offices in the Civil Secretariat would be vacated by the end of the month. The training, administration and issue branches had already been shifted to the new building.

They said the IGP would sit in the old building in front of the new CPO Complex which at present is being occupied by the Sheikhupura DIG and the additional IG investigations.
