KARACHI: Mail offices to have security cameras


KARACHI, Dec 14: Close circuit security cameras will be installed shortly in the International Mail Office of Pakistan Post Office, to check malpractice and pilferage of mails.

This was announced by Pakistan Postal Management Board Chairman Major General Agha Masood Hassan while speaking to the officers at the office of Sindh post master general on Sunday.

He said other post offices would also get security cameras under various phases of the programme.

Expressing his concern over lack of accountability in the postal department, besides rampant corruption, he called for stringent action against officials involved in any kind of malpractice.

Highlighting the uplift projects of PPO, he said the Postal Staff College at Islamabad would be made a prestigious learning centre not only for local postal officers, but for the officers from Saarc and Central Asian countries.

He said postal officers would also be provided an opportunity to pursue an executive MBA course, in collaboration with Institute of Business Administration, with a view to improve their managerial skills and to boost the performance of marketing department.

The chairman said the posts of PMGs of Sindh and Punjab would be upgraded to grade 21 from grade 20.

He also pledged to provide better housing, medical care and social security facilities, including substantial enhancement in various allowances, for postal staff.—APP
