LAHORE, Dec 11: Pakistan would bid for the 2007 World Cup polo, Pakistan Polo Association (PPA) president Lt-Gen Arif Hasan announced on Thursday.
Gen Arif said the bid would be tabled in a meeting of the Federation of International Polo (FIP) on the occasion of World Cup in Paris next September.
He said the FIP representatives visiting Pakistan to supervise the ongoing seventh FIP World Cup playoffs had called it as the best organized event.
He said before the start of the tournament, the PPA had been receiving e-mail from FIP expressing worries on the security and availability of fine horses.
Gen Arif said the Indian players called 21 of the 24 horses provided to them outstanding and the remaining three exceptional.
Meanwhile, the PPA would organize an inter-club tournament from next season.
However, he admitted that a polo player needed huge funds and that was a big hurdle in popularizing the game.
