CM reviews law, order situation

SUKKUR, Dec 11: Sindh Chief Minister Ali Mohammad Mahar presided over a high-level meeting in Ghotki on Wednesday.

The meeting, which was attended by high police officials, reviewed the law and order situation in Sindh in general and particularly for the ensuing visit of President Gen Pervez Musharraf to Ghotki on Dec 14.

The president is visiting the district on the invitation of Chief Minister Mahar and Ghotki District Nazim Sardar Ali Gohar where he is said to be announcing a development package for the district.

The chief minister will stay in Ghotki till the visit of Gen Musharraf to finalize arrangements in this connection.

The CM also met different delegations in Ghotki on Wednesday.

Talking to a delegation of workers, he announced construction of a labour colony in Ghotki and directed officers concerned to provide 15 acres for the purpose and start work on it.

He said the Sindh government and multinational companies would bear expenses of the project.

He also ordered to construct meat and fish markets in the district.

Mr Mahar said funds had already been released for development works being carried out in the province, adding that priority was being given to backward areas to stop influx from these areas to cities.

He directed Nazims and district officers to ensure that development works were completed in the stipulated period and check standard of the works.
