DTA to designate 21 new routes

PESHAWAR, Dec 11: The district transport authority (DTA) has decided to designate 21 new routes to the buses plying on different routes in the provincial metropolis, official said.

“The decision has been taken in view of the heavy traffic in the city. The plan to be implemented after Dec 31, will provide relief to the passengers, as they would find marked difference after the official designation of the new routes,” said the official.

The district transport authority (DTA) has asked the interested companies to provided at least five 50-seat buses each for Khyber road and Sunehri Masjid road. For all the 21 new routes, the vehicles would carry different colours and route permits would be issued to them for specific routes.

The official said that the plan also contained code of conduct for the drivers and conductors and specification of women seats and strict ban on playing music. The authority has asked the interested parties to submit their application forms by Dec 31 at the DTA’s office.

Every vehicle should bear registration and token tax and fitness certificates. In case of more applications, the CNG- fitted or latest model vehicles would be preferred.

Light-colour 50-seat 50 buses have been planned from general bus stand (GBS) to Karkhano Market en route Khyber Road, whereas navy blue-colour 24-seat 40 mini-buses would ply from the GBS, Charsadda road, to GBS at the GT Road en route Bacha Khan Chowk, Shahi Bagh, Dalazak road, Ring road and GBS GT Road.

Another 24-seat, blue-colour 30 mini-buses would run from the GBS to Mathra village, en route Khyber road, Warsak road and Darmangi village. A same number of light-red mini-buses would ply from the GBS to Gulbahar, Circular road, Ram Das chowk, Ban Mari and Civil Quarters.

Hayatabad township would get grey-colour 24-seat 20 mini- buses that would travel on the internal routes in all phases.

Twenty orange-colour 50-seat mini-buses are to run from the GBS to Karkhano Market through Sunehri Masjid road, while 50 brown-colour vehicles having 50 seating capacity would ply from the GBS to Karkhano Market through Ring Road, Hazarkhwani, Garhi Qamar Din, Pishtakhara chowk, Achini village and Hayatabad.

For all the routes, it is mandatory that the vehicle owners obtain certificates from motor vehicle examiner (MVE) and environmental protection agency (EPA).

Pink-colour 30 mini-buses have been planned from the GBS, Kohat road, to Danishabad en route Garhi Qamar Din, Ring Road, Nawa Killey, Airport road, Pawaka, Dora chowk and Academy Town.

Fifty cream-colour mini-buses would ply from the GBS to Gulbahar, Shah Dand, Phando chowk, Urmar, Baghbanan, Teela Band and Shamshatoo, while 20 white-colour mini-buses would run from the GBS to Hayatabad phase 6, through Circular road, Kohat road and Ring Road.

Similarly, 50 mustard-colour mini-buses have been planned from the GBS to Old Bara en route Ring Road, Hazarkhwani and Pishtakhara chowk. While 50 black-colour mini-buses would travel from the GBS, Charsadda road, to Mian Gujjar through Eidgah, Faqirabad, Railway Station, Dalazak road and Gullozai village.

Light blue-colour 30 mini-buses would ply from the GBS, Kohat road, to the GBS, GT Road, through Scheme chowk and Inqilab Road, whereas 40 peachy-colour mini-buses would run from the GBS, GT Road to Pabbi.

Another dark green-colour 20 mini-buses would fly from the GBS to Ring Road, Dalazak road and Mian Gujjar.

Dark brown-colour 20 mini-buses would travel from Bara to Karkhano Market through Pishtakhara chowk, Ring Road and Hayatabad. As many dark red-colour mini-buses would ply from the GBS to Nahaqi, Naguman and Sar Daryab, while half white-colour 50 mini-buses would travel from the GBS to Chamkani.

About 20 silver-colour mini-buses would travel from the GBS, Kohat road, to Industrial Estate en route Qamar Din Garhi, Small Industrial Estate, Amin Colony, Landi Arbab, Manakro, Swati Pattak, Bara Gate and Ring Road chowk.

Similarly, 30 scarab-colour 30 mini-buses have been planned the GBS to Ram Das, Kohat road, Mattani and Maryamzai.

Whereas, 20 post office red-colour mini-buses would ply from the GBS, Charsadda road, to Charpareza and Chughar Matti through Pachaggi road.
