KARACHI: Strike call withdrawn


KARACHI, Dec 11: The Karachi Transporters Ittehad (KTI) on Thursday announced withdrawal its strike call for December 13 after getting assurance from the IG Police of resolution of their problems.

The IGP, Syed Kamal Shah, held two separate meetings with organizations of transporters on Thursday and held out the assurance that their problems would be taken up at higher level, said a press release.

The IGP announced that a committee, led by DIG Traffic, was being constituted to look into the transporters’ grievances.

A meeting with representatives of transporters would be held on December 31 to finalize recommendations.

It was decided that the DIG would hold two meetings with transporters every month and the Capital City Police Officer (CCPO), Karachi, would also meet transporters once in four months.—APP
