COLOMBO, Dec 10: A meeting on Wednesday between Sri Lankan President Chandrika Kumaratunga and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe at the President’s House failed to evolve a consensus on ways to break a deadlock over the peace process.
This was expected to be the final meeting between the two leaders aimed at negotiating a compromise to avoid early elections. Dec 15 has been set as deadline for reaching an agreement.
