36 Saudis convicted

By Syed Rashid Husain

RIYADH, Dec 9: A Saudi court has sentenced 36 Saudi citizens to 55 days in prison for seeking to protest in response to calls by an exiled dissident group demanding reforms in the country, it was reported here.

Three women were also among the people convicted.

Saudi daily Al-Watan said: “The judge ordered the group to be released for time already served and after it was confirmed that they had fallen prey to a dubious party calling itself the Movement for Islamic Reform.”
