RAWALPINDI, Dec 9: Islamabad police have booked more than 80 activists of the Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) on charges of protesting against the government and damaging vehicles on the premises of the district court on Monday.
Police said the PML-N workers, led by Muslim Students Federation Punjab President Syed Zaigham Ali Shah and President Muslim League (youth wing), Rawalpindi, Babar Awan, arrived outside the court of the district and sessions judge as ARD leader Javed Hashmi was being brought to the court for the hearing of his petition seeking A-class in jail.
On seeing Mr Hashmi, the PML-N activists started chanting anti-government slogans and also damaged some cars parked outside the court, city magistrate Farasat Ali Khan said in the FIR.
The district administration has already banned protest demonstrations in the capital territory. Police said no arrest had been made in connection with the case.
