Saarc Charter Day today

ISLAMABAD, Dec 7: Saarc Charter Day will be observed on Monday to mark the 18th anniversary of the signing of an agreement that led to establishment of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (Saarc).

On this occasion, Saarc Human Resource Development Centre (SHRDC) will organize a discussion on ‘Human capital formation and its impact on poverty alleviation in Saarc countries’ at a local hotel.

Salman Bashir, additional foreign secretary (Asia Pacific), will be the chief guest, while Centre for Research on Poverty Reduction and Income Distribution director Dr Mushtaq A. Khan will deliver the keynote speech.

The SHRDC, a regional institution of Saarc, has been established in Islamabad with the objectives to undertake research, impart training and disseminate information on HRD- related issues in Saarc region.
