KARACHI: PSC being manoeuvred: city govt

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Dec 7: Certain elements are trying to bring persons of their own choice on the Public Safety Commission Karachi, to exercise their influence in police matters.

This allegation was hurled by representative of the City Nazim on the selection penal of the Public Safety Commission, Zulfiqar Ali.

In a statement, he said that a year back on Sept 27, 2002, the selection penal had finalized the names of 12 persons after consensus, and sent to the provincial government for notification, which were yet to be announced. However, he said on one hand the provincial government was offering to resolve the issue amicably by direct contact with the members and on the other interview letters were issued for Dec 10 for selection of members for the PSC.

Mr Zulfiqar Ali alleged that certain elements wanted to stuff the PSC with their hand-picked men.

He said that he was going to hold a press conference soon to protest against this unlawful action of the government.
