Pakistan, Afghan troops trade fire

By Our Correspondent

GHALLANAI, Dec 6: Three personnel of Afghan militiamen were wounded as Pakistani border troops exchanged fire with the Afghan security force along the border in the Mohmand Agency here on Friday night.

The Afghan militia opened unprovoked fire on the Ghakhi Kandao and Ghostri checkpoints along the border which was responded by the Pakistani troops. The shootout continued for several hours.

Earlier, the Afghan militia had fired missiles which hit the Mazari Cheena and Ghostri Kandao area. No loss of life was reported.

The main road leading to Jalalabad from the agency also remained closed for traffic due to the renewed tension along the border.

Eyewitnesses said three personnel of the Afghan militia were wounded in the shootout, and were shifted to a hospital in Jalalabad.
