LAHORE, Dec 6: A competitive card of seven events, featuring the Kamalia Cup to be run over 1200m highlights the 13th Lahore Winter Meeting to be held at the Racecourse on Sunday.

An important event, the Khushab Plate, a term race for two- year-old thoroughbred colts and fillies, to be contested over the sprinting distance of 1000 metres has been declared void due to paucity of runners.

The Kamalia Cup, a class V division I and II combined handicap race has the biggest field of 18 runners , if there are no last-minute withdrawals.

Of them three come into reckoning on form and recent performances of the contestants. They are: Sugar And Honey, Lucky Winner and Gold Rush.

The three-year-old daughter of High Octane out-of-Quick Step, Sugar And Honey, who won five out of her eight attempts seems to be better placed in the handicap and on form.

Her handling on previous outing Sunday last left much to be desired. She should make a good sprint to win this fifth race of the day, if the connections desire so.

The supporting and sixth event, the Kala Bagh Plate, a class IV division I and II combined handicap race over the middle distance of 1600 metres has only eight contenders. It should be a contest between three of them, namely, Moment To Moment, Rukhtas Again and Mahnoor.

The distance, however, goes in favour of Moment To Moment. In this race the rider would matter the most.

Three-year-old bay colt, Rising Sun, a progeny of He Man out- of-Arc En Gail, looks a better proposition in the fourth race, the Chichawatni Plate, class VII division I to have gone over the sprinting distance of 1000 metres.

Rising Sun had finished a good second behind Lucky Winner last Nov 16 He should rise to the occasion to make amends and pick up the spoils.

Much Pleasure, an inconsistent performer and Bold Venture, who is gaining form should fight for less remunerative positions.

The first race will be held at 12.00 noon.
