Rates of bricks increase
SIALKOT, Dec 5: The rising prices of the coal have pushed up the prices of bricks which are being sold at Rs1,800 per thousand in both Sialkot and Narowal districts.
Some leading brick kilns’ owners, including Arshad Sahi, Abdul Majeed and Chaudhry Akbar, said the coal price was Rs2,500 to 3,000 per maund in September, 2002, which had gone up to Rs5,000 per maund in the corresponding month of 2003.
They said the prices of bricks would go up to Rs2,200 per thousand on account of the continuous rise in the coal prices. They said that sharp increase in the bricks’ prices had greatly affected the construction activities.
They urged the government to take some concrete steps to bring down the coal prices in the larger national interest.
STAY GRANTED: A local court on Friday issued the stay order against holding of annual elections of the Surgical Instruments Manufacturers Association (SIMA).
The stay was granted on a petition filed by industrialist Muhammad Yousaf in which he claimed that the procedure of the Sima’s annual election was not transparent.
The elections were scheduled to be held on Dec 8.
RECOVERED: A local court bailiff on Friday raided the Begowala police station in Daska tehsil and recovered youth Imtiaz alias Teddy from the illegal detention.
The judge summoned the SHO and other police officials to appear before court with complete record.
