PESHAWAR, Dec 3: A two-member delegation of the Lothian and Borders Police, British Scotland, including Chief Inspector Bob Licznerski and Inspector Gordon Hunter, called on Inspector General of Police, NWFP, Muhammad Riffat Pasha, here on Tuesday.

Muhammad Aslam, chairman of Pakistan Association Edinburgh and East of Scotland, also accompanied the delegation, which is currently on a week-long visit of Pakistan to establish contacts between British and Pakistani police to allow the development of future policing initiatives and improve cooperation on joint issues, said a press release.

IGP Raffat Pasha briefed the delegation on the newly introduced Police Reforms and Police Order, 2002. They were told that police had been bifurcated into watch and ward and investigation branches, as a result of which the force had been put on the path of specialisation.

The meeting also exchanged views on the latest investigation techniques of the NWFP Police and the progress so far made in this connection.

The members of the delegation appreciated the performance of the NWFP police force. They said that a majority of the Pakistan community in Lothian and Borders Policing area come from Punjab and the NWFP.

They stressed the need for constant liaison between police forces of both the countries to facilitate and benefit from each other’s experiences.

Additional Inspector General of Police Headquarters Khurshid Alam Khan and AIG Operations Malik Muhammad Saad also participated in the meeting. Later, police shields were also exchanged on this occasion.

FAKE CURRENCY: The Federal Investigation Department (FIA) on Tuesday arrested a smuggler and seized a large quantity of fake Pakistani currency on Bara Road, official sources said.
