KARACHI: Boy dies in accident; carjackers arrested

KARACHI, Dec 3: A five-year-old boy died in a road accident in Kemari on Wednesday.

Police said that Nazeer, 5, was crossing the main road when he was hit by an oil tanker (QAD-8570) and died on the spot. His body was shifted to the Civil Hospital for autopsy. The errant driver escaped from the spot following the accident.

ARRESTED: Police on Wednesday arrested two carjackers after a brief shootout with them in Bahadurabad.

Police said that Gul Zareen, driver of a Santro car (ADQ-630), was coming from Defence to Bahadurabad when two armed suspects tried to snatch the car at gunpoint.

Police said that as the driver raised alarm, a police mobile stationed nearby approached and shootout ensued in which one of the suspects was injured.

Police arrested the two suspects identified as Naveed and Saif, and recovered two pistols and six live rounds from their possession. The injured suspect was shifted to the JPMC for treatment.
