KARACHI, Dec 3: Pakistan Muslim League organizing committee’s secretary Shaikh Sirajuddin has categorically stated that no change is on the card in Sindh’s political setup.

Talking to newsmen at the Kingri, he said that no change is possible without the consent of Pir Pagara and Muttahida Qaumi Movement.

Regarding registration of the unified PML with the Election Commission, he said that prior to applying for the registration, a new constitution will have to be adopted.

It would follow election of office-bearers and merger of the accounts of the five PMLs.

The unification process, he said, had stalled in the absence of Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and because now Mr Hussain has come back to Pakistan, all formalities are likely to be completed by the end of the current month.

Speaking on the occasion, Provincial Minister Imtiaz Ahmed Shaikh, who is one of the six members of the PML Organising Committee, in reply to a question said Sardar Ali Muhammad Mahar enjoyed the confidence of all coalition partners in the government. Therefore, there was no question of his replacement by him nor he had ever made a move to become the cheif minister.

“Any decision in this regard would be of the parliamentary party as their decision would be final”, he said.

In reply to another question, he said that Mr Nisar Memon’s Organising Committee for Karachi had no concern with the PML, but it belongs to the PML(Q) which is one faction of the PML.

Mr Siraj said that Mr Memon has not been proposed by anyone for the provincial chief executive’s slot, but he was indulging in his lobbying at his own.

Azad Bin Haider, who is one of the members of the Sindh PML(Q) Organising Committee, headed by Mr Nisar Memon, said that their recommendations on the reorganization of the party at the grassroots level were ready, and would soon be submitted to party chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain.
