Board chief denies evading arrest

COLOMBO, Nov 30: Sri Lanka’s cricket board president Thilanga Sumathipala has denied evading arrest.

The country’s attorney general had ordered detectives to arrest him on Friday after a police investigation into his involvement with a man called Dhammika Amarasinghe.

Sumathipala is alleged to have helped Amarasinghe obtain a British visa under a forged passport so he could travel to England and watch the 1999 World Cup.— Reuters
