LAHORE, Nov 30: Players from the Pakistan and New Zealand cricket teams will wear red ribbons during their second international match on Monday to mark World AIDS Day, the world cricket body said on Sunday.
“As a sign of support for the millions of people around the world living with HIV and AIDS, international teams like Pakistan, New Zealand, West Indies, Zimbabwe, England and Sri Lanka have agreed to wear red ribbons during their on-going matches,” an International Cricket Council (ICC) statement said.
Pakistan team manager Haroon Rasheed welcomed the move and said players can play a prominent role in creating awareness about the deadly disease.
“Through the players, who are role models across the world, we can create more awareness and all Pakistani players are keen to support the fight against AIDS,” Haroon said.
