4 relatives of Nazim arrested

By Our Correspondent

KHAIRPUR, Nov 30: The B-section police here on Saturday registered a case against Shah Latif union council Nazim Bakht Ali Dahoot and 13 other persons, including his sons and relatives.

The police raided the house of the People’s Party Parliamentarians-backed Awam Dost Panel Nazim and arrested four of the nominated persons — Riaz Ali, the Nazim’s son, Safdar Ali and Imran, his nephews, and Asif Ali Dahoot, his relative.

Ali Sher Dahoot had lodged the FIR against the Nazim, his brother, Inayat, his son, Riaz Ali, Safdar Ali, Imran Ali, Sajjad Ali, Asif Ali and others, alleging that they had trespassed into his house and beaten him up.

Meanwhile, District Nazim Nafisa Shah condemned the registration of the FIR against the Nazim and others, terming it an instance of political victimization.

She said the ADP Nazims were being implicated in false cases to pressure them to change their loyalty.

The ADP members of the district council, at a meeting held here, also condemned the registration of the case and the arrest of four relatives of the Nazim.

On Sunday, PPP MPA Nawab Khan Wassan announced that a protest movement would be launched against the registration of fabricated cases of water theft against party workers and supporters.

Talking to journalists at Wassan House here, he also condemned the registration of a case against the UC Nazim and his relatives and the arrests.

He demanded that a judicial enquiry should be initiated into the registration of concocted cases of water theft.

Earlier, a meeting of the ADP was held here which was attended by the Nazims of different areas.

The meeting noted that the police action was aimed at harassing Mr Dahoot.

The police has not yet arrested the UC Nazim who is expected to apply for bail before arrest.
