Waqas made Punjab JI secretary

LAHORE, Nov 30: A meeting of the provincial consultative body of the Jamaat-i-Islami on Sunday nominated Syed Waqas Anjum the party’s provincial secretary-general.

The meeting held with Punjab amir Liaquat Baloch in the chair also nominated MNA Mian Aslam, MPA Dr Waseem Akhtar and former provincial secretary-general Azhar Iqbal Ahsan naib amirs and Javed Kasuri deputy secretary of the party.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Baloch said the MMA showed flexibility to solve the ongoing constitutional crisis in the country.

He said the MMA was not an extremist party rather it wanted to see strengthening of democratic institutions in the country.

He regretted that Gen Pervez Musharraf never took parliament into confidence over increasing interference of the United States in our internal affairs.
