USS Cole back in service

WASHINGTON, Nov 30: The destroyer USS Cole has rejoined the US war on terrorism three years after it was the target of a suicide bomb attack in Yemen.

The Cole was nearly sunk when the bomb ripped a hole in its side while in port on Oct 12, 2000, in which 17 sailors were killed and 38 wounded. But after a 250 million dollar refit, the destroyer left Norfolk navy base in Virginia on Saturday for the Mediterranean.—AFP
