HYDERABAD, Nov 29: A large number of villagers of Goth Kirir Khan Solangi staged a sit-in and blocked the Hala bypass road here on Saturday by placing the body of an accident victim on it.

A van, carrying devotees, was on its way to Bhit Shah on Friday when the driver lost control and the vehicle overturned.

As a result, Salamat Ali, an employee of the Isra University, died on the spot and 15 other passengers were injured who were admitted to the Liaquat University Hospital.

The protesting villagers blamed the Matiyari highway police for the accident.

They alleged that the highway police had chased the van which had already been challaned as a result the driver lost control over the steering and the van overturned.

They demanded that the highway police should pay compensation to the heirs of Mr Ali and those injured.
