JKLF welcomes ceasefire

ISLAMABAD, Nov 29: The Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front welcomed on Saturday the ceasefire in Kashmir, but expressed reservations on the proposed bus service between the territories controlled by India and Pakistan.

The chairman of JKLF, Amanullah Khan, said in a statement the ceasefire would bring relief to the victims of shelling on both sides of the Line of Control.

The recent developments between India and Pakistan in Kashmir “should prove as first concrete steps towards a peaceful solution of the Kashmir issue,” Mr Khan said.

But he raised concerns the bus service would turn the LoC into a permanent border.

“If the present ceasefire and the proposed bus service between Srinagar and Muzaffarabad are steps aimed at gradually turning the ceasefire line in Kashmir into permanent border JKLF would fight tooth and nail to undo the ill-conceived plan.”—Agency
