Gwadar port to be linked with main rail track

ISLAMABAD: Nov 29: Railways Minister Ghaus Bux Mahar has said the Gwadar port will be linked with the main railway track.

He said the Pakistan Railways would soon conduct a survey for the project.

The minister said the Gwadar port would be connected with a rail network on the Quetta-Zahidan line at Dalbandin or with the Dadu Jacobabad section.

He said the Chaman-Quetta rail track would also be upgraded to handle the activities of the Gwadar port for Afghanistan and the central Asian states.

The minister further said the four-year rehabilitation programme of the main track was in progress which would increase the speed of trains up to 120 kilometres per hour. The project would be completed at a cost of over Rs11 billion, he added.—PPI
