RAWALPINDI, Nov 29: The Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) has warned that if the ongoing ceasefire and the proposed bus service between Srinagar and Muzaffarabad were aimed at gradually turning the Line of Control (LoC) into a permanent border between Pakistan and India, it will fight tooth and nail to undo the plan.

In a press statement issued here on Saturday, JKLF Chairman Emanuel Khan said his party wanted peace in South Asia and friendly relations between the two nuclear neighbouring powers. However, he added, the JKLF would never accept peace at the cost of injustices to the Kashmiris or Indo-Pakistan amity at the cost of Kashmiris’ inherent and internationally-recognised right to self-determination.

Welcoming the ceasefire, which came into effect on November 26, the JKLF chief said such steps should lead to a peaceful resolution of Kashmir issue on the basis of unfettered right of self-determination of 15 million people of the entire Jammu and Kashmir.

On the proposed bus service between Muzaffarabad and Srinagar, he said, “how unfortunate it is that Kashmiris are supposed to travel from one of their own cities to another through their own land with passport of one neighbouring country and visa of the other, paving the way for a permanent division of their motherland.”

He said those who welcomed the proposal were either foreign agents or did not have proper understanding of the issue.
